i. Audits & Inspection

Fire Safety Management Audits & Premises Inspections

A Fire Safety Management Audit involves an in-depth examination of your organisation's fire safety management systems and associated physical arrangements. Lionize inspects and reports if your building does not meet appropriate fire safety standards, outlining both outstanding maintenance recommendations and corrective actions required.

Why Conduct Fire Safety Audits at Your Premises?

  • Statutory & SABS Compliance: Verify that all fire equipment complies with regulatory bodies such as SABS and municipal bylaws.
  • Avoid Costly Fines & Litigation: Proactively identify non-compliance and implement corrective measures before incidents or penalties occur.
  • Manage Structural Changes: Identify any construction or layout modifications that may have introduced new fire hazards.
  • Occupant & Asset Readiness: Confirm sufficient escape exits, ventilation, and trained staff on-site.
Passive Fire Protection Systems - Fire Door, Structural Steel Fire Protection, and Penetration Seals for Cables, Pipes, and Ducts
ii. Passive Fire Protection (PFP)

Certified Passive Fire Protection Systems

Passive Fire Protection (PFP) contains fires and slows their spread using fire-resistant walls, floors, ceilings, doors, and penetration seals. Whether employing endothermic materials (calcium silicate board, concrete, gypsum wallboard) or intumescent and ablative systems, materials bear no fire rating on their own—they must be installed as tested systems by an accredited provider like Lionize Group under established certification listings and National Building Codes.

Fire Walls, Fire Barriers, Fire Partitions and Fire-Rated Glass

1. Fire Walls, Barriers, Doors & Glazing

Fire Walls: Continuous from foundation to/through roof for complete building separation and structural stability.
Fire Barriers & Partitions: Shaft, occupancy, and corridor separation.
Doors & Glazing: Monolithic and laminated fire-rated glass, fire-resistant glazed doors, and screens.

Pipe, Cable and Duct Penetration Seals and Intumescent Cable Coatings

2. Pipe, Cable & Floor Penetrations

Pipe & Cable Seals: Seal bags, intumescent sleeves, intumescent pipe collars, and compliant sealants.
Wall & Floor Penetrations: Acrylic-based sealants, gypsum-based fire-stopping compounds, and mineral fibre-based fire barriers.
Joints & Gaps: Intumescent acrylic linear joint sealants, neutral-cure silicone, and moisture-curing foam.

Structural Steel Fire Protection and Expansion Joints

3. Structural Steel, Cavities & Expansion Joints

Structural Steel Work: Intumescent coatings, board protection, and concrete-filled hollow sections.
Large Cavities: Flexible fire curtains manufactured from specially coated glass fabric.
Expansion Joints: Fire-stopping mattress, blanket, filler board, and rope systems.

Fire Resistant Cable Coating Application Practice

Fire-Resistant Cable Coating Compound & Industry Practice

We apply an asbestos-free, non-toxic, ready-to-use inorganic compound that intumesces immediately upon fire exposure, forming a protective char barrier that prevents flame propagation along electrical cables:

  • Horizontal Runs: Applied for 2 metres on bunched cables at intermittent distances of 10 metres.
  • Vertical Runs: Fully coated due to rapid vertical fire travel and draft effects.
  • Critical Zones: Applied up to 2 metres at all entry/exit points and criss-crossings, as well as in high-heat zones and areas subject to oil/lubricant spillage or coal dust.
Our PFP Deliverables Include: Free product advice | Supply & installation/application | Certificate of Conformance | Pressure Test / Integrity Test where required.
iii. Active Fire Protection (AFP)

Design, Installation & Servicing of Active Systems

Complete lifecycle support—from engineering design to installation and statutory servicing—for active detection and suppression systems:

  • Automatic Electronic Fire Detection Systems: Design, installation, and routine servicing.
  • Automatic Gas Suppression Systems: Clean-agent and gas suppression for server rooms, substations, and control rooms.
  • Fixed Fire Sprinkler Systems: Turnkey design, installation, and maintenance.
  • Fire Hose Reels & Fire Hydrants: Design, installation, pressure testing, and servicing.
  • Portable Fire-Fighting Extinguishers: Supplied and serviced with foam, water, gas, vaporising liquid, and wet chemical agents.
